Jessie "Jetty" M. Martin

Jessie Marie "Jetty" Martin, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2023, at Mercy Health St. Elizabeth-Boardman in Youngstown, Ohio. Born on November 16, 1936, in Lisbon, Jetty was the beloved daughter of the late Robert V. and Helen M. (Hoffman) Liggitt.

Jetty's early years were spent in Lisbon, where she graduated from Lisbon High School. Jetty's pursuit of higher education led her to attend Kent State University. Her love for knowledge and community service blossomed into a fulfilling career as a librarian at Reilly Elementary School, where she shaped young minds for 20 years. Her sense of sisterhood was further exemplified as a charter member of the Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority, Delta Omicron Chapter, since 1957.

Jetty's commitment to education extended beyond the library walls as she also served as a medical secretary for Dr. LaCobbs for eight years. Her professional life was a testament to her belief in the power of education and the importance of caring for others.

She was an active member of the Bayside Yacht Club in Ft. Myers, Florida, where she enjoyed the camaraderie and the beauty of the sea.

Jetty's marriage to Robert L. Martin on August 26, 1965, was a union filled with love, and shared passions. Together, they embarked on numerous adventures, from traveling to new destinations to boating on the open waters. Their shared love for the thrill of the ride was evident in their motorcycle journeys, creating memories that would last a lifetime.

Jetty's legacy is carried on by her family, including her son, Robert Martin Jr. of Salineville; and stepson, James (Paulette) Martin. She was a proud grandmother to Samara Martin and Jamie (Angie) Martin, and a great-grandmother to Calla Martin.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Robert L. Martin.

A celebration of Jetty's life will be held privately by her family at a later time.
