Larry Bratton Obituary

Larry Dean Bratton, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2024, at Blossom Nursing Center. Larry was born on May 12, 1948, in Massillon, son of the late Forest and Leona (Gruse) Bratton. Larry's life was characterized by his loving nature, kindness, and strong faith.

Larry graduated from Fairless High School and went on to pursue higher education at Kent State University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in engineering. He retired in 2010 from Powell Electrical Systems Inc., where he was a valued member of the assembly line team. Prior to that, Larry had lent his engineering expertise to Genie Overhead Doors, showcasing his talent and innovation. He also worked at Morgan’s and was the owner of Napa Redline Auto Parts in Canfield.

Beyond his professional achievements, Larry was member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in North Georgetown, where he served as a service leader, took care of the property, and was an active member of the church council. His commitment to his faith and church community was unwavering and served as an inspiration to many.

Larry's involvement with the Knox Ruritans and was particularly passionate about helping with the pedal tractor pulls, an event that brought joy to many and reflected Larry's love for his community.

In his spare time, Larry found joy in tinkering with and working on cars. His hands were rarely still, as he loved to stay busy and was always ready to take on a new project.

Larry is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Schneider, who was his partner in life and love for 50 plus years. His memory will also be cherished by his daughters, Melinda Westbrook and Bridget Kale, along with her husband William all of Beloit. Larry's legacy continues through his grandchildren, Brandon Grimminger, Bradley Kale, Justin Kale, and Briana Kale, who will remember their grandfather with fondness and admiration.

Predeceased by his father, Forest Bratton, and mother, Leona (Gruse) Bratton, Larry leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and service that will not be forgotten.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 21, 2024, at the Emmanual Lutheran Church in North Georgetown. Friends may call from 10 to 11 AM on Thursday at the church. Burial will follow the service at North Georgetown Cemetery.
