SALEM - Rudolf Arthur Maroscher, “Rudy,” 93, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2024, at the Hospice House in Poland. He was born on August 29, 1930, in Salem, which he proudly called home throughout his life.
The son of the late, Victor E. Maroscher and Katharina (Konnerth) Maroscher. He married Barbara C. (Groppe) Maroscher, on June 14, 1958. and they were blessed with their children, Victor (Sherrie) Maroscher, Arthur Maroscher, both of Salem, Kathy (Jim) Stout of Alliance, and Lisa (Tom) Swope of Ebensburg, Pa.; six grandchildren, Meg, Mitchell, Grace, Hannah, Thomas, and Sam; and one great-granddaughter, Emerson. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and many friends.
Along with his parents, Rudolf was preceded in death by one granddaughter, a brother and two sisters.
Rudy graduated from Salem High School in 1948, and immediately joined the U.S. Air Force where he was a radio operator. He was a member of the flight crew for Trygve Lie, the first Secretary-General of the United Nations. Rudy was the owner of MM Industries Inc. and the Salem Racquet Club, and he was licensed Professional Electrical Engineer.
A proud lifelong resident of Salem, Rudy was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church. He greatly enjoyed the Salem Saxon Club Branch #19, serving as a trustee. He was also a member of the Salem American Legion Post #56, Salem Elks Lodge #305, and the Salem Alumni Association.
As an avid tennis player, his passion extended beyond personal enjoyment. In 1976 he built the Salem Racquet Club, and he was instrumental in bringing tennis to local youth and helped spur the creation of many high school teams in the area. His dedication to the game endured, as he spent winters in Ft. Myers, Fl., continuing to play tennis. Rudy was an avid reader, he kept abreast of current events, and his commitment to lifelong learning never wavered.
A life lived with purpose and grace will be honored with a funeral service at Noon, Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Dawn Ritchie. Visitation will take place prior to the service from 11:00 a.m.-Noon. He will be laid to rest at Grandview Cemetery and a luncheon will follow at the Salem Golf Club.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Salem Saxon Club Scholarship Fund, the Salem Alumni Association, or Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
