Carol Ritchie Obituary

Carol Ann Ritchie of Salem passed away Saturday, February 2nd 2019 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Youngstown, OH.

Carol was born December 28, 1941 in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of Charles A. and Florence A. (Schneider) Nicholson.


She moved to Salem in the late forties with her family, graduating from Salem Senior High School in 1959, and was a graduate of Kent State University. She previously worked for the Salem Community Hospital, Hunt Valve and retired from Family Recovery Center as a group counselor. She attended Salem First Friends Church and was a member of the Agape Sunday School class.

She is survived by her husband, Gary E Ritchie Sr., whom she married November 26, 1960. Other survivors include three sons, Chip (Denise) Ritchie of Salem, Blaine (Kathi) Ritchie of Salem, and Chris Ritchie of Harrisburg, PA; sister Florence Rothenberger of Carmel, NY; and grandchildren Taylor, Devon, Tanner, Jessica, Emily, Steven, John, Heather, Rachael, Lilly, Michael, Stella and four great grandchildren.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, brothers Charles Nicholson, Harrison “Ricky” Nicholson, and sister Audrey Pasqualucci.

A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday February 7, 2019 at Salem First Friends Church. with Pastor Peter Fowler officiating. A dinner reception will follow at the church.
