Esther Coy Obituary
SALEM – Esther Jane Coy, age 86 of Salem, passed away Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Salem Regional Medical Center. She was born July 9, 1932 in Alliance, Ohio, the daughter of the late Alfred E. and Anna (Zurbrugg) Krahling.
Esther graduated from Sebring High School in 1950. She married James Coy on November 9, 1952 and had resided in Salem most of her life. Esther began her bookkeeping career at Clem Lumber and then United Co-Op in Alliance, followed by 54 years with Hill, Barth and King in Salem, retiring in 2014 from Hack, Steer and Co. LLC, Salem. She was a member of the Church of God of the Abrahamic Faith in Salem and United Commercial Travelers of America, Salem Council 590, where she served on the Executive Committee. In 2007, Esther and Jim received the Fraternalist of the Year award from the Ohio Grand Council UCT. Esther was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan and enjoyed collecting Santas, Longaberger baskets and Hummel figurines.
Esther is survived by her husband, Jim Coy of 66 years; a daughter Cindy Coy of Shreve; a sister, Carol Hickman of Salem; several nieces and nephews and her cat, Sadie.
Besides her parents, Esther was preceded in death by her brothers, John, Alfred Jr. and Donald; sisters, Kathryn Ball, Edna Beckett, Mary Louise Houston, Evelyn Schmid, Marcine Schmid and Ruth Dalessandro.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Stark Memorial Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Ray Luxeuil officiating. Friends may call from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2019 and 10:00-10:45 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Highland Memorial Park in Beloit.
