Mary V. Carmelo

SALEM – Mary V. Carmelo, age 96, died at 2:10 p.m. Monday, May 13, 2019 at Salem West Healthcare. She was born October 2, 1922 in Canton, Ohio, the daughter of the late Angelo and Cesaria (Nerone) Carmelo.

Mary retired in 1985 from Church Budget Co. after 30 years of employment. She previously worked at Harris Printing. Mary was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, a member of C.D. of A, a volunteer at St. Paul Bingo and Our Lady Loving Shrine in North Jackson. She was also a member of the Salem Italian-American Club and Salem Senior Citizens.

Survivors include her two sisters, Jennie Carmelo of Salem and Sister Mary Lorenzina Carmelo of Boston, MA and a brother, Joseph (Iva) Carmelo of Columbiana.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 16, 2019 at St. Paul Catholic Church with Father Robert Edwards officiating. Calling hours will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday at Stark Memorial. Burial will be at Grandview Cemetery.
