Nancy Smith

SALEM - Nancy Smith, age 72, of Salem died Monday, January 7, 2019 at the Cleveland Clinic. She was born October 15, 1946 in Salem, Ohio, the daughter of the late Harold and Catherine (Phyllis) Koons.

Nancy was a member of the Phillips Christian Church in Salem. She was a 1964 graduate of United Local High School. Nancy had been a clerk at JC Murphy Co., JCPenney and Dollar General. She enjoyed spending time and caring for her grandchildren. Nancy will be remembered for her kind, caring and loving personality. She was a wonderful humble person.  Nancy was a fighter and never gave up. She will be truly missed.

Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Robert L. Smith whom she married October 27, 1978; two daughters, Sarah (Justin) Perry and Erin (Robert) Pitts, both of Salem; grandchildren, Hannah, Nicholas, Halle, Hattie, Cooper, Harper, Owen and Nolan.

Her brother, Harold Koons also preceded her in death.

Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 11, 2019 at Greenford Christian Church. Friends will be accepted from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Friday at the church.
