Rosemary Maxcy Obituary

NEWARK, WV - Rosemary Ciotti Maxcy, age 75 formerly of Salem, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2019 at her home with her family by her side. She was born April 2, 1944 in Salem, the daughter of the late Frank and Rose (Vitale) Ciotti.

Rosemary graduated from Salem High School in 1962, Akron City School of Nursing in 1965 and Akron University in 1969. She was a registered nurse for 50+ years, working in a variety of nursing/administrative capacities including: Nursing Standards Review Manager for Summit County Medical Society, Long Term Quality Care Surveyor for the Ohio Department of Health, Director of Review Programs for Portage, Stark and Summit County Hospitals and Quality Assurance and Nursing Standards for Management Service Corporation.

Rosemary held memberships and served on the boards of many organizations including: Ladies Auxiliary VFW, St. Paul’s School Foundation, Ohio Nurses Association, Salem Visiting Nurse Association, Salem Community Hospital Auxiliary, Salem Quota Club, Salem Historical Society and Columbiana Co./Mahoning Co. Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Her husband, Robert C. Maxcy, whom she married November 20, 1965 preceded her in death.

Besides her parents and husband, their infant son, Todd Michael Maxcy; five brothers, Val, Tullio and Edward Ciotti, Albert and Herman Mingroni and one sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Allison.

She is survived by her beloved son, Timothy R. (Brenda Evans) Maxcy of Newark, WV with whom she resided preceding her death; grandchildren, Cynthia (Aaron) Park of Copley, Ohio and McKenzie (John) Harvey of Oakdale, MN; a great granddaughter, Allianna Bailey of Copley, Ohio; very dear nieces and nephews, Debra Kniefel    of Michigan, Roseanne Maish of South Carolina, Michael Allison of Texas and Patrick Allison of Florida.

Per her request, no calling hours will be held.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 7, 2019 at St. Paul Catholic Church. Family and friends may gather at the church one hour before service begins. A graveside service will be held at Grandview Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the church.

Memorial contributions may be offered to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908, St. Paul School Scholarship Fund, 925 E. State St., Salem, OH 44460 or the charity of the donor’s choice.
