Verla (Lease) Madison

SALEM – Verla (Lease) Madison went to be with her precious Lord and Savior Sunday, April 14, 2019. She was born January 25, 1945 in Salem to loving parents, the late Walter and Betty Jane (Ingledue) Hartman.

She was a loving wife, mother, friend and an awesome grandmother. She devoted her life to her beloved son, Christopher D. Lease (Jody L.). The highlight of her life was becoming a grandmother to Mason and Brogan Lease. She spent many, many happy hours with them.

Verla owned a medical transcription company for 14 years. She worked as an office manager for Dr. A. S. Soriano for over ten years and part-time for Dr. T. L. Coulter of Columbiana. Earlier she had worked as executive secretary for the V. P. of Mullins Mfg. Co. while also serving as financial secretary to the office workers union. Verla also served on the Board of Campfire as financial secretary.

She has always been active in church, served as choir director and youth group coordinator for Highland Christian Church and while at Pleasant View Christian Church, she sang in the choir and taught many classes for all ages. Verla devoted her life to helping children of all ages. She currently was a member of the Lakemount Church of Christ.

Verla leaves behind her wonderful husband, Charles W. Madison whom she married September 29, 2001; a brother, Walter (Ann Louise) Hartman; two nephews, Adam and Jason; a great niece, Cordelia; Charles’ children, Kelly (David) Berta and Mark (Linda) Madison and their children, whom she loved very much, Brittany (Ron) Good, Jesse, Madison; and a great granddaughter, Aria.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 20, 2019 at Stark Memorial with Rev. Jason Cole and Rev. Dick Chambers officiating. Calling hours will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Highland Christian Church Cemetery.
