Salem- Willard W. McEldowney, Jr., age 72, was called home on March 12, 2019 surrounded by loving family. Born on September 13, 1946 to Willard W. McEldowney, Sr. and Helen (Schrader) McEldowney.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Dolores (Dolly) McEldowney ; daughters, Regina L. McEldowney and Monica J. (Ed) O’Neill; grandchildren Tomica Beauchene, Michael Beauchene and Brandon Beauchene; sisters, Dixie Courtney, June Wagner, Susan Postiy, Bernadine Bowser, and Alanna Stainbrook; sister-in-law Cara McEldowney; brother-in-law Timothy Furry; sister-in-law Anna Munholand, and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Nancy Wright, and brother Wendell McEldowney.
He was a 1964 graduate of West Branch High School and went on to graduate from Akron Barber College. Affectionately known as Willie to everyone who knew him, he was owner and operator of Willie’s Barber Shop in Beloit and later on Valley Road, Salem, for 54 years. He is an Army Veteran, and a member of the American Legion. His past-time interest includes racing pigeons with many championship trophies. He participated in field trials for 10 years, enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling with family.
Services will be held at Stark Memorial Funeral Home, Salem on Saturday at 3:00PM with Rob Shoaff officiating. Visitation will be 2 hours prior to the service. Burial to follow at Damascus cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for cancer, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
