Alice M. Stevenson Obituary
Alice Mae (Wickersham) Stevenson, 90, passed away on Sunday April 12, 2026, in Morristown, TN, with her loving family by her side. Alice was born on June 2, 1935, in Hanoverton, OH, to the late Carl O. and Dorothy H. (Thomas) Wickersham. She graduated from Minerva High School in 1953. After graduating, she attended Aultman Hospital School of Nursing and received a nursing degree in 1956. She worked as a registered nurse at the Salem Central Clinic from 1956 to 1964.
Alice was involved in many organizations where she always was an active member being one of the go-to people when something needed to be chaired, or baked, especially a pie, or just as a member of a committee. Some of the organizations she belonged to over the years were The First Christian Church in Salem where she sang in the choir and served as director of Junior Choir there for many years. Also, every year she was a member of the Vacation Bible School Committee. Other organizations were The First Christian Church in Sarasota, Florida, CWF where she was a past president, The Salem Golf Club where she was a past president of the Women’s Association, Aultman College Alumni Association, and Century House Board past member.
In addition to her years of volunteer work in the Salem and Columbiana County area, she and her husband, Bill Stevenson, wintered in Sarasota. Florida where they lived at Windward Isle. Alice was the president of the WWI Association for 22 years. During her tenure she oversaw entertainment, social activities including theme parties, dances, special dinners, and of course all manner and means of decorations, especially Christmas. She was a member of the WWI choir.
Her greatest achievement by far was her love for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great- great grandchildren. She was the heart of the family where she made all feel loved, cherished, and valued. She was our Angel on Earth that taught us so much about what a family is and what we should all strive to do with our families.
Alice leaves behind a daughter, Donna J. (John) Runzo, three sons, David J. (Patti) Stevenson, Douglas E. (Dorothy) Myers, Tim A. (Sheryl) Myers, 11 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. Each of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren believed they were her favorite. She is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Dean E. Myers, who passed away in 1964, a son, Scott A. Myers, a daughter, Sandra J. (Stevenson) Glass, her second husband, Dr. William F. Stevenson, who passed away in 2007.
