Ann Hartman Obituary

Ann Louise Hartman was born on May 27, 1948, in Youngstown, Ohio. She joined her heavenly father on February 21, 2024, at home, with her family nearby. She was 75 years of age.

Ann Louise graduated from Columbiana High School in 1966. She worked as a secretary, and then as a factory worker until her retirement.

It is hard to describe Ann Louise because she was so many things to so many people. She was a warm, loving, and passionate person. First and for most she was a mother. Not only for her own children and grandchildren, but for anyone who needed it. Young or old, it did not matter, there was always space for you at her table and a listening ear. She loved to sing and did so at her church for many years. Often while working in her garden or around the house she would be humming or singing some type of tune. Gardening was her biggest passion. The second was painting anything she could purple. Within the house she managed to keep her ever-growing elephant collection to one room and was rotated every so often. Decorating for Christmas was also a big production. As were the crafts she would make for family and friends as gifts. She loved fostering the creativity of her grandchildren including them in her crafts.

For as loving and gentle as Ann Louise was, she was also a fighter. Over her life she had contracted cancer five times. Each time she put her faith in God and met her challenges head on. Even when she was out of options she kept fighting to spend as much time with her family as she could.

Ann Louise was preceded in death by her parents, Karl and Betty Lou Theiss; her husband, Walter Hartman; and sister-in-law, Verla Madison. She is survived by her brother, Dave (Susie) Theiss; her two sons, Jason (Loretta) Hartman and Adam Hartman; and two grandchildren, Tynan (Cordy Belle) and Kane Hartman. She was considered Mom by many and will be missed by them.

There will be no calling hours. A funeral/celebration of life will be held at the Jerusalem Lutheran Church in Columbiana, Ohio at 2 p.m. on March 9, 2024, with food and fellowship to follow.
