SALEM - Antonietta Grande Salvino, 94, of Salem, Ohio, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on July 2, 2025. Antonietta was born in Monteleone di Puglia, Italy on September 26, 1930, to the late Giuseppe and Victoria (Morra) Grande. Besides her parents, Antonietta is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Salvino, Sr.; brothers, Leonard Grande, Rocco Grande, and Louis Grande; and sister, Filomena Grande Labriola.
Antonietta is fondly remembered by her sons, Paul (Carleen) Salvino, Jr., Anthony Salvino, and Mario Salvino; daughters, Joanna Salvino Dorantich and Victoria (Wayne) Salvino Reese; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
She came to America from Italy in 1950, and when not making a lovely home for her family she worked at the Salem Community Hospital cafeteria and volunteered at the St. Paul School cafeteria. At the school she was well known for making her own dough for the weekly pizza day.
Antonietta loved her flower and vegetable gardens. She started every plant from a seed and tended to each meticulously. Every year, her family had flowers to enjoy and vegetables to can and add to their dishes. Antonietta made every meal by hand including her pasta, bread, and pizza doughs.
When they were old enough, Antonietta shared her recipes and sharp skills with her family so the tradition can be carried out. She sewed, knitted, and crocheted clothes for her family and friends. She mended for many. Many dear memories were made between the walls of her home and with the family she held closely. She will be missed by so many.
