SALEM - Barbara Banar Fink, 75, died Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital, after a recent diagnosis of melanoma of the liver.
Barbara was born on February 04, 1950, in Salem, a daughter of Robert T. and Mary E. (Stouffer) Banar.
Barb was a devoted lover of all living things, especially birds, cats, dogs, and flowers. She cherished each of her pets, treating them like members of her own family. Barb also cares deeply for her family, looking after loved ones both young and old with the same nurturing spirit she gave to all living things. Her compassion extended far beyond her home, leaving a lasting impact on her community through her years of service.
Captain Barb Fink was a charter member and first woman of the Perry Township Fire Department, which began operations on January 1, 1988. She proudly served for 25 years, retiring in 2012 as captain-a rank she held with dedication and distinction. In addition to her firefighting role, she also served for years as the secretary for the Columbiana County Firefighters' Association, contributing tirelessly behind the scenes.
Barb was an active and passionate member of several craft communities. She participated in the 5 Rivers Bobbin Lace Group and the United Quilt Guild, where she previously served as treasurer and was currently serving as the publicity chair. Her creative spirit and enthusiasm brought joy and inspiration to those around her.
Among her many passions, Barb had a special fondness for her Mini Coopers, affectionately named Scarlet and Winston. Whether it was through her love for animals, her commitment to public service, or her involvement in crafting communities, Barb touched many lives and will be dearly remembered.
In addition to her mother, Mary Banar of Leetonia, Barb is survived by her loving husband of nearly 54 years, Daryl R. Fink; and her sister, Roberta (David) Banar Thompson of Tucson, AZ.
Barb was preceded in death by her father.
Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, from 2-4 p.m., at Stark Memorial Funeral Home, 1014 E. State St., Salem, where a memorial service will follow at 4 p.m.
