SALEM - Barry Jay Hirshfield, 81, passed away Monday evening, October 23, 2023 at his home.
Barry was born on June 16, 1942, in Brooklyn, NY the son of the late Joel and Nola (Askenas) Hirshfield.
Barry attended State University of New York and studied electronics. Barry was a self-employed business owner. Over the years he owned several business including an alarm company, an ice-cream shop, and a restaurant over the years. He loved the theater and at onetime was the owner of a dinner theater and was the director and producer of the shows there. Barry was also a "Foodie". He loved boating and fishing and was a trivia buff. Most of all Barry enjoyed spending time in his recliner watching True Crime Shows. Barry was a member of Homeowners Association of Florida, where he was a board member and the treasure, the Florida Mobile Home Board, where he often gave speeches for the organization.
His first wife, the former Ellen Maureen Engel whom he married August 19, 1962, passed away September 26, 2001. Barry married his second wife, Nancy Cornwell Sego- Hirshfield in March of 2007 and she passed away on November 9, 2021. Barry leaves three daughters, Eve Berg of Colorado, Melissa Lane of Arkansas, Lorajean Keith and her husband Kevin of Florida; two stepdaughters, Diane Hart and her husband Sean, and Debi Kelley and her husband Norman, 11 grandchildren, five step grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Besides his parents Joel and Nola, and his wives, Ellen and Nancy, Barry is preceded in death by one daughter, Robyn Tice, one grandson, Alec Sander, and one sister, Lynn Katz.
Following Barry's wishes there are no calling hours or services.
Arrangements are being handled by Stark Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
