Bettijane "BJ" Colian

Bettijane "BJ" Colian, a cherished member of the Salem community, passed away peacefully Sunday, December 8, 2024, at the age of 89 surrounded by family. Born on October 2, 1935, in Salem, Ohio, Bettijane lived a full life marked by her entrepreneurial spirit, her commitment to service, and her profound love for her family.

A proud graduate of Salem High School, Bettijane went on to establish her own cleaning business, BJ's Environmental Service. Her entrepreneurial journey was complemented by her role at Salem Hospital, where she was entrusted with the management of the laundry service, a position she held with great responsibility and care.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Bettijane was an active participant in several community organizations. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, the Red Hat Society, and the Lion's Club, where she worked alongside others to serve the needs of the community. Bettijane also contributed her time and talents to the beautification committee of Salem.

Family was the foundation of Bettijane's life. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, whose greatest joy came from spending time with her loved ones. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories for her children, Tony Colian and his wife, Debbie, James Colian and his wife, Lori; and her daughter-in-law, Sandy Colian. Bettijane's spirit will continue to live on through her grandchildren, Lara, Brett, Ben, Tony Jr., Kasey, Timothy, Mandy, Tifanie, Jimmy, Sarah, Ryan, Steve, Joseph, and Gary Jr, as well as her 19 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind two brothers, Jim Foreman and Dave Foreman.

The Colian family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Blossom Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their compassionate care during Bettijane's final days. Their kindness and support have been a source of comfort during this difficult time.

She was preceded in death by her son, Gary Colian Sr; father, Tom Foreman; brother, Tom Foreman and stepmother, JoAnn Foreman.

A funeral service will be held at Stark Memorial on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at 12 Noon with visitation one hour prior. She will be laid to rest at Grandview Cemetery in Salem.
