SALEM - Betty L. Vernon, 89, died Saturday, June 7, 2025, at Circle of Care in Salem.
Betty was born on February 8, 1936, in Salem, OH, the daughter of the late Sylvester C. and Cleta (Price) Martig.
Betty was a graduate of Goshen High School. She was a horse trainer all her life. She was involved in harness racing at various fairs. She enjoyed knitting, dancing, and traveling.
Survivors include her daughter, Jody (Donald) Blake of Salem. She also leaves her close friends and caretakers, Terry Hronek, Julie Herron, and Marge Hurley.
Besides her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Petty.
A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 12, 2025, at Highland Memorial Park in Beloit.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Canfield Harness Horseman's Association in c/o Lynne Dibkey, 920 Sherwood Ave,, Youngstown, OH 44511.
Arrangements are being handled by Stark Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
