Carol W. (Hupp) Martin

SALEM - Carol “Nanny” W. Martin, 80, of Salem, Ohio passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born August 11, 1944, in Parkersburg, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Freda and Heber Hupp. She was a proud graduate of East Liverpool High School class of 1962 who enjoyed lifelong friendships with her classmates.

Spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great children is what Nanny enjoyed most. Nanny took great joy in cooking for her family, especially her famous pies and Christmas cookies. Her favorite past times were playing cards, shopping, watching the game show channel, trips to the ocean, and attending the annual Canfield Fair. She was also an avid square dancer and enjoyed visits to Amish Country.

Nanny never missed a chance to babysit her grandkids or cheer them on at their various sporting events. She enjoyed hosting her family on Christmas Day the most, never failing to make each person their favorite dish. She made Christmas magical but just a simple day spent with Nanny was truly the best and created the many memories that will be cherished forever.

Carol is survived by her husband of 61 years, James Martin; her three children, Michael (Jeanne) Martin, Brian (Leigh Ann) Martin, and Michele (Eric) Sanor; seven grandchildren, Erica (Jarrod) Niederhiser, Dustin and Julia Sanor, Zachary, Nathan, and Cameron Martin, Amaya Martin; two great grandchildren, Silas and Sawyer Niederhiser; niece, Danelle (John Hunka) Hupp; nephew, Will Hupp; great nephew, Jake Hupp; and great niece, Stephanie Hupp.

In memory of our beloved Nanny always put family first and cherish every moment you are given to spend together, eat some chocolate and go shopping!

Visitation will take place from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at Stark Memorial Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 15, 2025, at the funeral home with Pastor Amy Bordonaro officiating. Burial will follow at Hope Cemetery.
