Carole L. (Pitts) Porter

Carole L. Porter, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully March 5, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on March 26, 1937, in East Cleveland, Ohio, Carole was the loving daughter of the late Henry and Kathryn Reese Pitts. Her final days were spent surrounded by family at St. Mary's Alzheimer's Center in Columbiana, Ohio, where she was compassionately cared for.

For many years, she served as a bus driver at Western Reserve Local School District. She also worked as a secretary at Stambaugh's in Youngstown.

Beyond her professional life, Carole was an accomplished sportswoman, earning the title of Women's National Champion in muzzle loader shooting. Her love for the outdoors extended to the water, where she shared her skills as a swimming instructor at Diehl Lake. It was there, and later in Berlin Center, that she and her beloved husband, the late Charles E. Porter, raised their family, instilling in them a sense of adventure and a love for nature.

Carole's legacy is carried on by her devoted children, Mark (Mildred) Porter of Hammondsville, and Tom (Traci) Porter of Salem. She was a proud grandmother to Abigail and Dave, and a doting great-grandmother to Walker and Paige. Her brother, David Pitts, and a niece also survive her, each holding dear memories of Carole.

A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, March 16, 2025, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Lisbon, Ohio. She will rest peacefully at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Youngstown, OH.
