Catherine A. (Richert) Albrecht

SALEM - Catherine A. Albrecht, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2025, in Youngstown, Ohio, at the age of 87. Born on October 7, 1937, in Bell, California, Cathy was the daughter of John and Justina Richert.

Cathy's passion for music was evident from a young age. She became a key member of the Reedley Mennonite Brethren Church choir. Her talent extended to the piano and was often accompanied by her singing. Church hymns were her favorite, and she shared this love with her community.

In her personal life, Cathy would prepare meals for her husband, Norm, and their two daughters, Karen and Jill, ensuring that a warm, delicious dinner awaited them each day. Cathy's skills as a housewife were unparalleled; she sewed clothes for herself and her girls, often creating garments that rivaled those found in stores. Her resourcefulness and dedication also shone through her assistance with farm chores, where she could be found driving a tractor or diligently packing fruit.

Cathy's legacy is carried on by her daughter, Karen (David) Vargas of Canfield, and her memory is cherished by the many lives she touched. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Norman Albrecht, and was the last surviving sibling of Reinald, John, Vic, Dorothy, Ed, and Don.

A celebration of Cathy's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Stark Memorial Funeral Home in Salem. The service will honor her memory and the mark she left on her family, friends, and community. Cathy will be laid to rest at Green Haven Memorial Gardens, where she will be reunited with her husband, Norman, in eternal peace.

Cathy's commitment to her faith and her church was unwavering throughout her life. In remembrance of her spirit and generosity, memorial contributions may be made to the Reedley Mennonite Brethren Church, an institution that was very close to her heart.
