SALEM - Chase R. Hannay, 46, passed away Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Salem Regional Medical Center. He was born October 9, 1977, in Salem, son of Ted R. Hannay and the late Tina (Grecko) Hannay.
Chase grew up in Salem, where he was known for his caring nature and his innate ability to bring joy to those around him.
Professionally, Chase was the respected manager of Fowler's Lawn Service. He took immense pride in his work, with a blend of dedication and kindness that made him not only a boss but a mentor and a friend to his colleagues. His passion for his job was evident in the beautiful landscapes he helped create and maintain, leaving a legacy of growth and natural beauty in the community he served.
Chase's interests were as varied as they were deep. A lover of animals, he was known in the neighborhood for his compassion towards strays, often providing them with food and shelter. His artistic talent was another facet of his multifaceted personality; he was a gifted artist who found solace and expression in his creations. Horror movies were a particular favorite of his, and he could often be found engrossed in the latest spine-chilling flick or discussing the classics with fellow enthusiasts.
Collecting memorabilia was more than a hobby for Chase; it was a passion that allowed him to connect with the stories and characters he loved. His collection was a testament to his dedication and an insight into the things that brought him joy. His love for cars was equally fervent.
Chase's generous spirit extended beyond his immediate circle. He was always ready to lend a helping hand, offer support, or share a kind word. His approach to life was marked by a profound empathy and a willingness to go the extra mile for others. Friends, family, and even acquaintances felt the warmth of his generosity.
Described by those who knew him best as loving, generous, and creative, Chase lived his life as an example of how to care for others. His legacy is one of selflessness and kindness, traits that those close to him will strive to embody in his honor.
He was a loving son to his father, Ted Hannay, a supportive brother to Cara (Jim) Stanley, a doting uncle to his niece Lysette Stanley, and a devoted boyfriend to his long-time partner, Amanda Sullivan. His family was the centerpiece of his life, and his role within it was cherished.
Chase's journey on earth has ended, but his loved ones take comfort in the belief that he is now in Heaven, reunited with his mother, Tina, who is undoubtedly taking wonderful care of him once again. The impact he made on the world and the love he shared will continue to resonate in the hearts of those he touched.
Chase was a remarkable man who lived a life full of purpose and love. He will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
