Darryl Muir Obituary

LISBON - Darryl L. Muir, 61, died Thursday, September 24, 2020 at his home. He was born November 4, 1958 in Alliance, son of the late Robert Willis and Sarah Roberta (DeHass) Muir.

Darryl served in the United States Navy as MTCS (SS), retiring after 24 years. His service included 14 submarine patrols totaling seven years at sea and three wars, Desert Storm, Desert Shield and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He received medals for Def. Meritorious Service, Joint Service Commendation, Navy/Marine Corps Commendation, and Navy/Marine Corps Achievement medals.

Survivors include his wife, Karin Ruth (Avery) Muir, whom he married November 5, 1977; two daughters, Lena (David) VanHorn, of Palmer, TN and Sarah (Thomas) Rosenfelt of Lebanon, TN; four sisters, Kay Stoops of Hudson, OH, Maj. Naomi Trask of Southampton, PA, Marsha Carney of Chesterfield, VA, Gretchen (Randy) Savage of Glenmont, OH; two brothers, Timothy (Ginny) Muir of Simpsonville, SC and Maj. Dennis (Kathy) Muir of Pamona, NY and six grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Monday, September 28, 2020 at The Salvation Army, 1249 N. Ellsworth Ave., Salem with Maj. Dennis Muir and Maj. Cindy Lou Drummond officiating.

Calling hours will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 12 Noon and 2:00-4:00 p.m. Monday at Stark Memorial, 1014 E. State St., Salem, OH 44460. For the safety of the Muir family, please follow social distancing and bring your own mask.
