SALEM - Debra L. Jackson, 67, a cherished member of the Salem community, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at Salem Regional Medical Center. Born on February 20, 1957, in Salem, she was the beloved daughter of the late Allen Harrison Blackburn and Nellie Jane Blackburn. Debra's life was a testament to her enduring spirit and her commitment to her family, friends, and the community.
She was a 1975 graduate of United Local High School. For two decades, Debra served the community through her work as a pharmacy assistant at Walmart. Beyond her professional life, Debra was a lifetime member of the Amvets and an active participant in the Slovak Club. Her involvement in these organizations reflected her deep sense of patriotism and her pride in her heritage.
Debra married James Jackson on December 31, 1991. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Debra was a devoted wife, a loving stepmother to James Jackson and Gregory Greathouse, and a doting grandmother to her six grandchildren. Her family was the center of her world, and she embraced every moment with them.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that will be carried on by her family, including her sisters, Shirley (Blackburn) Thompson and Loretta (Blackburn) Mattern, her brother, Tom (Denise) Blackburn, and her adoring nieces and nephews.
Debra was preceded in death by her brothers, Keith, Timothy, and Everett Blackburn.
Friends and family will be received from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 10, 2024, at Stark Memorial Funeral Home. A funeral service will immediately follow at 7:00 p.m.
