Dennis John Carter, age 69, of Berlin Center departed this life on Friday May 22, 2026, at 1:26 p.m. at Salem Hospital following complications from a fall at his home. He was born on March 9, 1957, to John and Betty (Noling) Carter in Salem.

He graduated from Canfield High School in 1975. His love for cars and engines led him to become a mechanic by hobby and trade.

Dennis was extremely empathetic and forgiving, showing compassion to those in their greatest times of need. He was a kind loving soul who cherished his family, always making room for them in his heart and in his home.

Dennis enjoyed tinkering with machines and engines while listening to music. He loved being home hanging out with his beloved pets, Zook and RyRy watching Star Trek, sci-fi, and history channels.

He will be truly missed by those who loved him most. Survived by his mother, Betty Carter of Canfield; brother, Robin (Bonnie) Carter of Calcutta; his former spouse, Linda Carter of Lake Milton; his children, Chrissy Carter of Struthers, Katherine Dodd of Kinsman, Nicki Carter of Berlin Center, Billy Brush of Willoughby, Dawn Brush of Austintown; his grandchildren, Isaac, Timothy, Isabell, Matthew, Destiny, Hailey, Chase, Bobby, Will, Devin and Lilyanna along with six great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, John W. Carter; his long-time partner, Debbie McCartney and his son-in-law, Raymond Dodd

Calling hours will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 28, 2026, at Stark Memorial Funeral Home and from 9:00-10:00 a.m. Friday, May 29, 2026, followed by the funeral service at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Berlin Center West Cemetery.
