Donna Naylor Obituary

SALEM - Donna M. Naylor passed away peacefully on Thursday December 5, 2024, at Blossom Care Center in Salem, having blessed the lives of those around her since her own beginning on July 1, 1931. Her life, marked by kindness and a nurturing spirit, was a testament to the warmth and dedication she brought to her family and the community that she held dear.

Donna was the beloved daughter of the late Lester W. Mountz and Minnie (Lippiatt) Mountz. Her heart found its match when she married H.R. "Bob" Naylor on May 21, 1949, a union that was filled with love and companionship until his passing on February 8, 2003. Together, they built a family that would become Donna's greatest pride and joy.

A devoted mother, Donna leaves behind her son, Bill Naylor and his wife Frankie, of Muscle Shoals, AL, and daughter, Patricia Hirst and her husband Quint, of Salem. She was the guiding star for her grandchildren, Gary Hirst and his wife Jamie, Billy Naylor, and Ashley Wilkes and her husband Jon, as well as her adored twelve great-grandchildren, each of whom she cherished with every fiber of her being.

Donna is also lovingly remembered by her brother, Jim Mountz and his wife Mary Ellen, of Montgomery, AL; her sister, Sandy Grubb, of Kensington; and her sister, Judy Blackburn and her husband Chester of Varney, KY. She was preceded in departure by her sister. Jane Moohr, and brother Jerry Mountz, who no doubt welcomed her with open arms.

Her early education took place at Salem High School, where the foundations of her lifelong friendships and values were established. Donna's professional life was spent as a cook in several local restaurants, where she not only shared her culinary talents but also her warmth and care with both colleagues and patrons alike.

Donna's life was characterized by her love of simple pleasures. She found joy in watching old westerns and episodes of Andy Griffith, which mirrored the simplicity and integrity she embodied. However, it was the time spent with her family that Donna treasured above all else, creating memories and sharing moments that will continue to resonate through generations.

Described by those who knew her as loving, kind, and thoughtful, Donna's presence was a source of comfort and happiness. Her ability to listen, her gentle guidance, and her unconditional love were the hallmarks of her character, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those she touched.

Donna's legacy is one of love and devotion. She nurtured a family that respected and adored her, and she contributed to her community with both her skills and her spirit. Her departure is deeply felt, but her memory will continue to inspire and guide those who were fortunate enough to know her.

As the sun sets on Donna M. Naylor's earthly journey, her spirit remains a beacon of light for her family and all who cherished her. Her life's story is one of unwavering love and the quiet strength that defines the matriarch of a family. Donna's memory will be honored and preserved in the stories passed down through her family, in the laughter shared around dinner tables, and in the silent moments when her love is felt, even in her absence.

Farewell to Donna, a woman of grace and dignity, whose life was a beautiful illustration of the virtues she held dear. She will be greatly missed, but her legacy of love endures.
