Eleanor "Bun" (Sneltzer) Adams

WINONA – Eleanor A. (Sneltzer) Adams, 83, known by most as “Bun”, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2024, at home surrounded by loved ones following a lengthy illness. Bun was born May 24, 1940, daughter of the late John J. and Hazel (Mercer) Sneltzer in Butler Township at the home of her grandparents, the late Burt and Pearl Mercer.

Bun was a 1958 graduate of Salem High School. She belonged to Emmanuel Lutheran Church in North Georgetown. Bun was employed and retired from the original Salem Golf Club after 45 years of service. Bun loved to garden and be outdoors. Above all, Bun was an outstanding grandmother and was known for her Saturday morning made-to-order style breakfast, which everyone who had the honor to sit at her kitchen table felt her love.

Survivors include her children, Robert E. Mapes of California, Jodi (Russell) Kiko of Salem and Jami (Robb) Turnbull of Kentucky. Her greatest joy in her life were her precious grandchildren, Maggie, Chad, Tyler, Chloe, Wyatt, Lizzie, Ward, Wayden and Elaina and great-grandchildren, Logan and Maverick. She also leaves behind her sister and best friend, Delores Capel and her brother, Richard Sneltzer, both of Salem.

Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Leland “Glenn” Adams; infant child, Michael R. Mapes; brother, John D. Sneltzer; nephew, David L. Hrovatic, and niece, Debra L. Barker.

Per Bun’s wishes, no services will be held.
