SALEM - Garnett Y. Dennison passed away unexpectedly in her sleep on Monday, May 13, 2024, at her home in Salem.
Born on June 17, 1937, in Lumberport, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late William Rex and Iva Pearl (Miller) Boggess. Garnett's warm presence and kind spirit will be profoundly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Garnett's life was one of dedication and service, both to her family and her community. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church, where she sang in the church choir. She also found great joy in working in her yard, creating a place of beauty and tranquility around her home.
As a devoted housewife, her life was a testament to love, care, and unwavering support for her family. She also worked as a receptionist for the Salem Parks and Recreation Department. Garnett's kindness and helpful nature left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered.
Her legacy is carried on through her loving family. She is survived by her children, Stephen (Robin) Dennison, James (Donna) Dennison, Jack (Vicki) Dennison, Douglas Dennison, and Vicki (Timothy) Clegg. Her life was further enriched by her 10 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy and pride. She also leaves behind her siblings, Phyllis Pigott and Denver Boggess, who share in the family's loss.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Leroy Dennison, who passed away in 2021. Their union, which began on April 23, 1955, was filled with love and partnership throughout those years. She was also preceded in death by her son, Gregory, who passed in 2020, as well as siblings, Anna Lou Holt, Maxine Bacon, and Roger Boggess.
Friends and family are invited to gather and celebrate Garnett's life from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2024, at Stark Memorial. A service honoring her memory will commence at 1:00 p.m. Following the service, Garnett will be laid to rest at Green Haven Memorial Gardens in Canfield, beside her husband.
