SALEM – Gary L. Baker, 78, of Salem, died Thursday, December 16, 2021 at the Salem Regional Medical Center. He was born December 31, 1942 in Salem Ohio, son of the late Lowell W. and Marjorie J. (Beck) Baker.
Gary was a Vo-Ag teacher at Marlington High School for 23 years and farmed since 1975. He was a 1961 graduate of West Branch High School, and received a Masters Degree of Vocational Education at Kent State in 1993.
Gary was a member of the Salem Hunting Club, Goshen Center Ruritans, Life member of the N.R.A. and Salem AMVETS Post 45.
He served in the US Airforce from 1962 to 1966.
Survivors include his wife Carolyn K. (Renkenberger) Baker; sons, Brad (Kindra) Baker of New Lexington, Brian Baker of Homeworth, and Brent (Shannon) Baker of Carrollton; sisters, Jean L. Tartaryn of Middletown NY, Janice Merrick of Salem and Joan Baker of Atlanta, GA; brothers, Lynn (Betty) Baker of NC, Mark (Lori) Baker of Salem, Dale (Barb) Baker of Huntsburg OH; grandchildren, Jacob, Madilyn, Julianna, Lane and Clayton; step grandchildren, Zoe and Mitch.
Besides his parents, a daughter-in-law, Jennifer Lynn Baker preceded him in death in 2009.
Friends and family will be received from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Stark Memorial Funeral Home. At the family’s request, visitors please wear a mask and practice social distancing.
A funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home with John Biery conducting the service. Military honors will be provided by The Salem Honor Guard at the funeral home. Burial will be at Bunker Hill Cemetery at a later date.
