Gladys Votaw Obituary

Gladys R. Votaw, 93, a long-time resident of Salem, OH, and a pillar of her community, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at Altercare of Alliance, in Alliance, OH. Born on January 6, 1932, in Salem, Gladys was the beloved daughter of the late David Clyde and Hazel Lucille (Holwick) Wright.

After graduating from Salem High School in 1950, Gladys married Arthur W. Votaw, on February 8, 1952. Together, they built a life filled with love until Arthur's passing in October of 2024.

She will be dearly missed by her two sons, Alan David (Darlene) Votaw of Salem and Jeffrey Lee (Dorothy) Votaw of Sebring; son-in-law, Rick Molnar of New Springfield; her brother, Karl Wright of Salem; her cherished nine grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren who brightened her days.

Regrettably, Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur, her daughter, Jill Molnar, and her granddaughter, Angie Horvath.

A well-known beautician, Gladys graced Bonfert's Beauty Shop with her talent and warm presence since 1968. Her dedication to her craft and her clientele earned her a reputation of excellence within the community.

Gladys's faith and commitment to her church were unwavering. As a member of Salem First Presbyterian Church, she served as an Elder, Deaconess, and a beloved Sunday School teacher for 20 years. She was also an enthusiastic member of the former Salem Garden Study Club, where she shared her love for nature and fellowship.

Her faith-filled character was evident in her everyday actions and interactions with those around her. Gladys was a guiding light, a steadfast friend, and a caring mentor to many.

Friends and family are invited to gather for a time of visitation from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Stark Memorial.

A funeral service will commence at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Annie Parker officiating. Gladys will be laid to rest at Hope Cemetery, where she will be joined once more with her beloved Arthur.
