Jean "Charlyne" Doerle August 29, 1932 – May 26, 2026 Jean Charlyne Doerle, 93, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2026. She was born on August 29, 1932, in Durand, Wisconsin, to Jerry C. Hatcher and Myrtle G. (Sherman)Hatcher. Charlyne graduated from Edwin Denby High School in Detroit, Michigan, in 1950. She studied music at Olivet Nazarene University and later studied education from Ashland University. Throughout her life, Charlyne was a dedicated educator and secretary. She also faithfully served as secretary to the District Superintendent of the Central Ohio District Church of the Nazarene, the University of South Florida, Church of the Savior in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, and Loctite Corporation. As the wife of a pastor, Charlyne faithfully supported her husband's ministry for many years. She was an accomplished pianist who played for worship services for an incredible 81 years, beginning at age 12 at the Detroit Mission and continuing into her years in assisted living, where she played until age 93. Charlyne's greatest joys were her family, her faith, and her church. She especially cherished attending camp meeting at the Indian Lake Campgrounds in Indian Lake, Michigan, where she made many treasured memories. She is survived by her children: Melody (William), Kimberly (Tom), Kevin (Susan), and Matthew (Deborah); her grandchildren: Billy, Bradley, Brent, Laura, Jacob, Kevin, Samuel, Andrew, Emily, and James; and 12 great-grandchildren. Charlyne lived a life of unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. She expressed her testimony in these words: "I love the Lord with all my heart. I cannot thank Him enough for all He's done for me. He saves, sanctifies, and satisfies every longing of my heart. He has been my best friend, and I would like everyone to know Him as I do." Charlyne will be remembered for her steadfast faith, servant's heart, love of music, devotion to her family, and lifelong commitment to serving the Lord. Her legacy will continue through the lives she touched as a teacher, church musician, pastor's wife, mother, grandmother, and faithful friend. Services will be held July 11 at Salem First Church of the Nazarene, 11am. Salem, Ohio.
