Jo-Ann C. (Price) May

SALEM - Jo-Ann C. May, 85, a lifelong resident of Salem, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at Salem North Healthcare Center. She was born June 23, 1938, in Salem. Jo-Ann was the cherished daughter of the late John and Gladys (Ware) Price. Her warm presence and kind spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Jo-Ann's life was marked by her devotion to her family and her steadfast faith. She was a faithful member of Harvest Baptist Church, where she found great comfort and community. Jo-Ann's love for her family was evident in the joy she took in spending time with them, creating memories that will be treasured forever.

In her leisure, Jo-Ann enjoyed exploring the digital world through her computer and staying connected with friends and family on Facebook. She had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel with her beloved husband, Clarence. Together, they visited family in Virginia, soaked up the sun in Florida, and experienced the beauty of Hawaii. The Blue Ridge Mountains held a special place in her heart, and she cherished every opportunity to visit their majestic landscapes.

She leaves behind a loving family, including her husband of 39 years, Clarence May, whom she married on her birthday, June 23, 1984. Her legacy continues through her children, Karen (Dean) Hoppe, Victor (Teresa) Squire; and stepchildren, Connie (John) Rager, Thomas May, and Russell (Faye) May. Jo-Ann was a proud grandmother and great-grandmother, and her guidance and love will live on in the hearts of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Betsy Taylor.

Besides her parents, Jo-Ann was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Grace.

Friends and family will be received Thursday, May 16, 2024 from Noon-1:00 p.m., at Stark Memorial Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral homes with Pastor Sam Severt of Harvest Baptist Church officiating. She will be laid to rest at Highland Memorial Park.

A dinner will be held to celebrate Jo-Ann after the burial at Harvest Baptist Church.
