Joan D. (Dorn) Barrett

SALEM - Joan D. (Dorn) Barrett, 91, of 1064 N. Ellsworth Ave., Salem, died on April 4, 2025, at 9:10 a.m. at Crandall Medical Center in Sebring.

Born October 3, 1933, Joan was the daughter of the late Matilda (Feld) and Clyde Dorn.

She was a resident of Salem for over 50 years, an active member of St Paul’s Church, and last worked in the Children’s Dept. of the Salem Public Library. Joan was a wonderful wife, mother, and exceptional grandmother. Her Christian faith was at the forefront of everything she did and her love for her family was immense and unconditional. She also was an avid reader and loved the outdoors, and she could be seen walking throughout Salem in her younger years.

Joan was married to Thomas J. Barrett and raised nine sons. She is survived by all nine sons; T. Mark of Salem, Mike (Jane) of Zionsville, Ind., Terry (Marene) of Chandler, Ariz., Pat of Sacramento, Calif., Steve of Salem, Tim (Valerie) of Santa Rosa, Calif., Jon (Julie) of Tiverton, R.I., Kevin (Pam) of Salem, and David (Kelly) of Cicero, Ind., as well as an army of grandkids and great-grandkids! Additionally, she is survived by sister, Elaine, and brothers, David and Neil.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom; three brothers, Harold, Roger, and Clyde; sister Carol Ann, all of Cincinnati, and a grandson, Thomas Barrett of Salem.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 10, 2025, at St Paul’s Catholic Church with Father Joseph Ruggieri officiating. The burial will follow at Historic Hope Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Stark Memorial Funeral Home.
