SALEM - John F. Hagan, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully at his Salem home on January 6, 2025, at the age of 72, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on October 18, 1952, in Alliance, John was the son of the late Howard James and Mildred Virginia (Reeder) Hagan.
John was a proud 1972 graduate of Marlington High School. He was an avid fan of the Browns and Indians, never missing a game.
John had a great interest in classic cars and would work on building miniature models in his spare time.
Known for his kindness and infectious spirit, John was very active in the community and had a knack for getting to know everyone—he truly never met a stranger. Whether he was delivering newspapers, mowing lawns, or snowplowing and shoveling driveways for his neighbors, he always went above and beyond to help others. His upbeat personality and generous heart left a lasting impression on all who crossed his path.
On May 23, 1975, John married the love of his life, Renaye Hagan (Myers), and together they built a family filled with love and laughter. Their children, Michael, Ryan (Emily), and Kyle, were John's pride and joy. John's role as a grandfather was one he cherished deeply, and he leaves behind a legacy of fond memories for his grandchildren, Joey, Rylee, Kaitlin, Grady, Kai, and Hudson, as well as his two great-grandchildren, Layla and Olivia.
John's siblings, Elizabeth "Betsy" Hagan, Phyllis (Bob) Smith, and Paul (Sharon) Hagan, will remember him as a loving and supportive brother.
Preceding him in death was his brother, James Hagan. John's memory will be held close in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A memorial service will take place at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 25, 2025 at the Salem First Friends Church. John's final resting place will be at Highland Memorial Park in Beloit.
