John Sox Jr.

SALEM - John Sox Jr., died Friday, Nov. 29, 2025 at Brookdale Assisted Living in Salem.

He was born April 20, 1931 in Salem Ohio, son of the late John Sr. and Mary (Matuscak) Sox. John worked at the Electric Furnace Co. and Parker Hannifin as a machinist.

John was an avid antique car enthuist.

His wife Virginia “Ginny” M. (Martin) Sox, whom he married April 26, 1952, died August 19, 2019.

John is survived daughter, Marcie Yuhaniak of Salem; Julie (Trevor) Frazier and Joshua Nutter whom he raised as is own; and also grandchildren, Kellee (Josh) Chestnut and John M. (Kara) Yuhaniak Jr. and Isabella Frazier; four great-grandchildren, Luke Yuhaniak; Buxton, Lottie Mae Chestnut.

He also leaves another daughter, Lisa Barnard

Besides his parents and wife, John was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Sox Humberston and several siblings.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at the Grandview Cemetery Chapel in Salem. There will be no calling hours.

Arrangements are being handled by Stark Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
