SALEM - Joyce D. Shuman, 83, a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 25, 2024, at Salem North Healthcare Center.
Born on January 19, 1941, in Fairmont, W.Va., Joyce was the daughter of the late Melvin Earl and Glenola Lucille (Nay) Ray.
She married the love of her life, Auldin "Al" Lee Shuman, on June 7, 1958, and together they built a family rooted in faith and togetherness. Joyce's commitment to her family was evident in her role as an amazing homemaker. Her home was not only a place of warmth and comfort but also a space where her talents as a gardener and ceramicist flourished.
Joyce was also a faithful member of the East Liverpool Church of Christ. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as playing hymns on the piano and crocheting, a skill she lovingly used to make baby blankets for her great-grandchildren.
Joyce's legacy is carried on by her loving family, who will miss her dearly. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy (Tod) Buttermore of Salem; her grandchildren, Christopher Pew, Brittany (David) Johnson, Bethany (George) Norris, and Christopher Carr; and her eight great-grandchildren, who will continue to cherish the memories and lessons she imparted.
She was preceded by the loss of her husband, Auldin "Al" Lee Shuman; her son, Terrell "Terry" Lee Shuman; and her daughter, Connie Fellouzis.
Joyce will be laid to rest in Lisbon Cemetery, where she will be reunited with her beloved husband, Al.
