Judy Ramos Obituary

CANFIELD - It is with great sorrow that we announce the death of Judy Ann Ramos, 83 years old, of Canfield, on November 13, 2024.  Judy died peacefully, with her children at her side, after a brave two-year battle with cancer.

Judy was born on October 28, 1941, in Youngstown, daughter of the late Vid and Sophia Labozan.

Judy spent her younger childhood years on Youngstown’s north side, and then the family moved to the west side when Judy was in junior high. She was a graduate of the Chaney High School Class of 1959. She then went on to further her education and earned her radiologic technologist certification at South Side Hospital. She worked in the hospital’s X-Ray department.

She married her husband, Lewis, on December 26, 1966. For the next several years, they moved around the country as Lewis completed his service to the country in the Air Force. Upon his honorable discharge in 1970, they returned to the Youngstown area to raise their family.

Judy worked at Youngstown Osteopathic/Cafaro Memorial Hospital for the next 25 years in the X-Ray and CAT Scan departments. After the hospital closed, she finished her career at Cavalier Mobile X-Ray in Boardman.

Judy was passionate in her pursuit of the domestic arts, and always took great pride in maintaining her home to the highest standards. She was an excellent cook, and she loved to entertain family and friends. Judy, along with her husband Lewis, was a life-long supporter of Youngstown State University Athletics. She loved hosting her tailgate parties for their many friends. Judy also enjoyed going on the golf course with her lady friends for their weekly round at short holes. She also organized the group breakfasts and reunions for her Chaney classmates.

Above all, Judy loved her husband, children, and family. She valued hard work and strived for perfection in all that she did. She will be remembered for her commitment and dedication to her loved ones and in every cause that she supported.

Judy was a lifelong member of St. Christine’s parish in Youngstown.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Sophia and Vid Labozan; her sister, Mary Lou Marshall; brother, Walter Labozan; nephew, Michael Grimm; and her husband of 57 years, Lewis.

She leaves behind her daughter, Brigitte (Stephan Koknat), of Powell, Ohio; son, Jason, of Lakewood, Ohio; a granddaughter, Gabrielle Koknat, of Columbus, Ohio; three grandsons, Evan Koknat (Lexi), of College Station, Texas; Aiden Koknat, of Cincinnati, Ohio; Noah Koknat of Columbus, Ohio; her sisters, Zora Grimm and Helene Mavar; her brother, Joseph Labozan (Beatrice); brother-in-law, David Ramos (Theodora); and sister-in-law, Jacqueline Trgovac; as well many beloved extended family members, nieces and nephews, and dear friends.
