SALEM -Kathleen Ann Moreland, 81, a cherished soul known for her loving kindness, passed away early Monday morning, September 9, 2024, at her home in Salem.
Kathleen was born on July 29, 1943, in Youngstown, the beloved daughter of the late Charles and Kathrine (Quinn) Kohn. She was a graduate of Canfield High School, class of 1961, and thereafter, she embarked on a career that would see her touch many lives. Kathleen retired from Superior Paints where she enjoyed helping her customers and co-workers.
On May 20, 1967, Kathleen married, C. Dale Moreland. Their union was blessed with joy, companionship, and two daughters. Kathleen was predeceased by her husband, who passed away on October 1, 2002.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and memories cherished by her family, including her daughters, Michelle Johnston and her husband Ben of Alliance, and Marsha Roth and her husband Fritz of Salem. Kathleen's life was further enriched by the presence of her three grandchildren, Autumn Johnston, Nicholas Hardgrove and Olivia Hardgrove, who brought immense joy to her days. Her brother, Pete Kohn of Florida, will also hold dear the memories of the sister as well as stepchildren, Dave Moreland of Kentucky and Becky Moreland of Medina, along with many step-grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Besides her parents and her husband, Dale, Kathleen was preceded in death by her brothers, Mike and Denny Kohn, and her sister, Patricia Good, as well as a stepdaughter, Carol Moreland. The bond she shared with her siblings was one of unwavering support and affection, and their legacy remains a testament to the strength of family.
A woman of faith, Kathleen was a devoted member of the Winona Methodist Church and an active participant in its Hazel Circle. Her spiritual life was a cornerstone of her existence, providing her with strength and community throughout her journey.
Those who knew Kathleen will remember her as a woman who found beauty in the simple pleasures of life. Her garden was a canvas of color that reflected her love for nature, and her paintings were a mirror to her soul, capturing the essence of the world as she saw it. Birdwatching brought her a sense of tranquility and wonder, as she marveled at the grace of the creatures that visited her garden.
The memory of Kathleen Ann Moreland will be treasured as a beacon of love and kindness. Her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved her and the many lives she touched with her generosity and warmth.
Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Winona Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her memory to Winona Methodist Church, P.O Box 25, Winona, Ohio 44493.
