Kay Fickes Obituary

Kay F. Fickes, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at her residence in Salem on Friday, March 28, 2025, at the age of 80, with her devoted husband by her side. Born on August 7, 1944, in Cleveland, Ohio, Kay was the beloved daughter of the late Clyde and Frances (Farmer) Sipe.

Kay was a proud 1962 graduate of Leetonia High School. She was a valued employee at the Medicine Shoppe in Salem and Gorant Candies in Boardman.

Kay cherished the moments spent with friends from high school, often gathering for breakfasts to reminisce. Her husband's classmates were also a delightful part of her social circle, as she enjoyed meeting up and creating new memories with them.

She enjoyed traveling and held a special fondness for Florida. She and her husband lived in Punta Gorda for a time, where they enjoyed the sunshine and coastal living. Shortly after their move down south, Hurricane Charlie struck, and together they survived the storm. Music brought great joy to Kay's life, and she was an avid fan of Bon Jovi and the Bee Gees.

She leaves behind the love of her life, Calvin Fickes, her husband of 58 years; children, Steve (Amy) Fickes and Rachael (Bryan) Snyder; grandchildren, Kevin, Sarah, Spencer, Lacey, Derek, Deven, Angel, and Allison, and her five great-grandchildren; special nephews, Jay Bland and Fred Sipe, who held a unique place in her heart.

Preceding her in death were her siblings, Bob Sipe and Pat Bland.
