Lawrence E. Hall, Jr., a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2024, in Salem, Ohio. Born on August 1, 1942, Lawrence lived a full and vibrant life that inspired countless fond memories.
Born to parents Everett and Hazel Hall, Lawrence grew up alongside his siblings, forging bonds and memories that would last a lifetime. Although he is now preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Walter and Robert, and sisters, Irene Halverstaut and Eileen Kerestes, the legacy they built together remains a testament to their close-knit family.
After bravely serving his country in the Army, Lawrence returned to his hometown of Salem, where he began a fulfilling career as a machinist at E.W. Bliss. His dedication to his craft continued until the company's closure in 1999, after which he brought his expertise to Howland Machine in Niles until his well-deserved retirement.
Beyond his professional life, Lawrence was known for his passion for the great outdoors. From his youth, he was an avid trapper, fisherman, hunter, and target shooter. His love for these activities took him to many places around the country, where he not only honed his skills but also shared his knowledge and enthusiasm with others. Lawrence's love for ice cream was as legendary as his outdoor pursuits, a sweet treat he enjoyed sharing with his granddaughter, Hope.
He leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory. His wife of 49 years, Francine, remains the love of his life, a bond that time can never diminish. His son, Matthew, along with his wife, Emma, and their daughter, Hope Alara Rose Hall of Cambridge, England, will continue to honor his legacy. Lawrence's sister, Carol, her husband, William Cox, and his many beloved nieces and nephews, along with extended family from Ohio, Georgia, Texas, and Florida, will all hold dear the pride he had for his family.
Visitation will be from 10:30-11:30 a.m., Saturday, November 2, 2024 at Greenford Lutheran Church, with a service to follow at 11:30 a.m.
The family extends a tremendous and heartfelt thank you to the exceptional VA nurses and Hospice care team who provided Lawrence with a peaceful and compassionate environment during his final days. Their care and support were a source of great comfort to Lawrence and his loved ones.
