Lawrence William "Larry" Hanson, 72, of Salem, formerly of Detroit, Michigan, departed this life on June 5, 2024, while awaiting the return of his beloved wife from her travels. Born on January 8, 1952, in Detroit, Larry was the cherished son of the late Charles and Jean Kearns Hanson. His sudden passing at the Cleveland Airport has left a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
He spent his youth in Kirtland, Ohio where he also graduated from the area school. A proud Navy veteran, Larry served his country with honor and dedication. His patriotism was a cornerstone of his character, and he carried the values of service and commitment throughout his life. He was a devoted husband to Frances Hanson, whom he married on August 12, 2016. Together, they shared a life filled with love, laughter, and countless adventures.
Larry' enjoyed coloring in adult coloring books. His artistic talent was not just a hobby but a passion that he shared with the world. Some of his framed pieces were even sold, a testament to his skill and creativity. He loved listing to 60s music, and also enjoyed the live and local music played at the park in Salem, sitting contentedly in the grass.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Frances; his son, Jeremy and his wife, Frances; his sister, Judi and her husband, Kurt; his brother, Michael and his wife, Wendy; and his two sisters residing in Florida.
A celebration of Larry's life will be held at a later date, arranged by his family. This gathering will honor the joy, the laughter, and the love that Larry brought into the lives of all who knew him.
