SALEM – LOIS PANDYA, 82, died Sunday, October 4, 2020 at Salem Regional Medical Center. She was born May 19, 1938 in Salem, daughter of the late Carl and Anna Margaret (Rea) Lippiatt.
Lois was a 1956 graduate of Salem High School. She received her Registered Nurse Certification at Aultman Hospital School of Nursing, Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing at Youngstown State University and pursued a Master’s Degree at the University of Akron, where she also taught nursing. She had worked as a Registered Nurse at Crandall Medical Center where she was a night shift supervisor for 25 years, retiring in 2006. Lois attended First Friends Church and Southeast Friends Church. She loved her dogs, cats and fish tanks. Besides instructing students on becoming professional nurses, Lois is remembered for teaching countless Brownie Troops to sew, or at least thread a needle.
Her husband, Najib Pandya whom she married June 29, 1962 preceded her in death in April 1979.
Survivors include her son, Robin (Julie Matsko) Pandya of Cleveland, two daughters, Sheila (David) Sweval of LaPorte, IN and Sonya (Sigfried Lindner) Pandya of Eugene, OR; two brothers, Paul (Penny) Lippiatt and Samuel (Verona) Lippiatt, both of Salem and a granddaughter, Sophia Rea Lindner.
Besides her parents and husband, a brother, Richard Lippiatt also preceded her in death.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 9, 2020 at Hope Cemetery with Pastor Pete Fowler officiating with burial to follow.
Calling hours will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 8, 2020 at Stark Memorial. For the safety of the Pandya family, please adhere to social distancing and bring your own mask.
