NORTH JACKSON - Marilyn J. Spaulding, age 88, passed away peacefully at the Antonine Village in North Jackson, Ohio on February 21, 2025.
Marilyn was born September 22, 1936, in Rochester, Pa., the daughter of the late Carl and Lorene (Smith) Kather.
She met the love of her life, Rex Spaulding at Edinboro College in Edinboro, Pa. and for 59 years enjoyed a fulfilling marriage that began with a move to Boston, Mass., starting a family and building a cottage in Ontario, Canada. Together they found joy restoring an old home in Damascus, Ohio, collecting antiques, raising children and traveling through France. After retiring they enjoyed spending time at their home in Chautauqua, N.Y., and several cruises.
Marilyn had a talent for sewing, decorating, and enjoyed hosting special holiday occasions for her family and friends.
She was a former member of Damascus Friends Church, attended Paradise United Church of Christ, and Old North Church in Canfield.
She is survived by a son, Rex (Judy) Spaulding of Lake Milton, Ohio; a daughter, Faith Spaulding of Florida; a daughter-in-law, Marilyn Spaulding of Florida, and five grandchildren, Nathan Williams, Elise (Mitchell) Pavelko, Brittany (Dave) Yost, Brennan (Katie) Spaulding and Brogan Spaulding, and seven great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Swift Spaulding, who passed away on February 23, 2012.
