Mario A. Carreon

Mario A. Carreon, 69, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, in New Brighton, PA. 

Mario was born in Salem, Ohio, on March 31, 1956, to the late Jesus and Shirley (Paxson) Carreon. 

He graduated from Salem High School in 1974. 

Mario was a proud veteran of this country, having served in the Navy for 22 years. 

He married Marsha (Corbin) Carreon on February 2, 1992. 

He was a dedicated fan of Cleveland sports, particularly the Cleveland Browns. He loved camping and sharing many unforgettable moments by the campfire. Mario was always supporting his grandchildren in their many endeavors, specifically attending their soccer and hockey games. He was a strong advocate for autism awareness and dedicated his time to organizing golf outings to help the cause. He was deeply inspired by his oldest grandson, Clayton, to join and advocate for greater awareness surrounding autism. He also was an officer at the VFW Post 8106 in New Galilee, PA.

Mario leaves behind his wife, Marsha; his daughter; Kristi Carreon; two sons, Josh (T.J.) Carreon and Mike (Kelly) Carreon; a stepson, Mike Gillespie; a brother, Len (Laurie) Carreon; seven grandchildren, Clayton, Connor (Katie), Kati, Colby, Lily, Zoey, and Layla; and a host of nieces and nephews. He will also dearly missed by his beloved dog, Misty.

Calling hours will be held for Mario from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Sunday, January 11, 2026, at Stark Memorial Funeral Home located at 1014 E State St, Salem, Ohio. A funeral service will be held the following day at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 12, 2026, at the funeral home. 

He will be laid to rest at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville, PA.
