SALEM - Marlene Kay Grady, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at Adventura at Assumption Village in North Lima at the age of 78. Marlene was born on December 4, 1945, in Salem, the daughter of the late Perry and Naoma (Beall) Grady. Her gentle spirit and kind heart will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Marlene was a proud graduate of Leetonia High School, class of 1963. She dedicated over 30 years of service to the Salem Regional Hospital in the Business Administration Department, where she was known for her professionalism and compassion. She was an active member with the Believers Christian Church in Salem. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life and provided her with strength and solace.
Known for her kindness and thoughtfulness, Marlene had a knack for making everyone around her feel valued and loved. She was a gentle soul who found joy in simple pleasures. Marlene was also a talented watercolor artist, creating beautiful paintings that reflected her love for nature and her keen eye for beauty, she was an avid cook, and loved spending time with her friends.
Marlene's love for her pets was unparalleled, she cherished the companionship of many dogs throughout her life. They were a source of comfort, joy, and endless affection for her.
She leaves behind a loving family, including her sister, Verona Lippiatt and her husband, Samuel of Salem, and their children, Suzanne (William) and Joseph (Tina). She also leaves many other nieces and nephews who will fondly remember their aunt's warmth and guidance. Besides her parents, Marlene is also preceded in death by her four brothers, Hobert, Ralph, Wayne, and Glenn; and four sisters, Irene, Helen, Joann, and Barb.
Marlene’s family would like to send a special thank you to her friends, Denise Beane, Dorothy Paxson, Elaine DeSellem, Lea and Lynn Landwert. Thank you all for your endless care and support for Marlene in her time of need. Thank you also to the nurses and aides at Adventura at Assumption Village and to Ohio Living Hospice for all of your kindness and compassion.
Marlene's presence was a gift to those around her, and her memory will be treasured in the hearts of her family and friends. Her legacy of kindness, service, and love will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known her.
Marlene's life will be honored in a graveside ceremony, at Washingtonville Cemetery, on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at 10:30 a.m., where family and friends will gather to share memories and celebrate the joy she brought into their lives. In her passing, Marlene Kay Grady leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew her. May she rest in peace, and may her memory continue to be a beacon of gentleness and compassion for all.
