Marlene June Rogers Obituary

Beloit - A private service was held in Hope Cemetery chapel for Marlene June Rogers who passed away peacefully on March 23, 2024, at the age of 88 at her home.

Born in Washingtonville on December 12, 1935, Marlene was a cherished daughter of the late Edwin Russell Fitzpatrick and Carrie May (Sanders) Fitzpatrick. She grew up in the close-knit community of Washingtonville, where she learned the values of hard work and the importance of family. Marlene attended Salem High School with a determination to make a meaningful life for herself, and she did just that.

Marlene met and married the love of her life, Paul Richard “Dick” Rogers, on  August 29, 1954. He preceded her in death on July 23, 1997. Together, they embraced the demanding yet rewarding life of farming, working side by side to cultivate not just the land but also a family legacy of perseverance and integrity. Marlene's contributions to the agriculture industry in her community were significant, and her influence was felt by many.

Marlene's spirit will be carried on through her beloved granddaughters, Jessica Schaffner, and her husband, Kory, of Malvern, Jamie Fitzpatrick and her partner Even, of Texas, and her grandson, Bobby Fitzpatrick and his wife Bri, of Dayton; and four great-grandchildren, Alivia, Cash, Lucas and Layla, who all were a source of immense joy and pride for her. Marlene's role as a grandmother was one she cherished deeply, and the memories created with her will be treasured forever. Marlene also leaves her two sisters, Joyce Fitzpatrick of Salem and Jeri Emig of Massillon.

Besides her parents, Edwin and Carrie, and her husband, Dick, Marlene was preceded in death by one son, Robert James Fitzpatrick, who passed away March 27, 2023; as well as two brothers, Joe and Robert Fitzpatrick; and two sisters, Jean Keefer and Jane Secrets.

In honor of Marlene's life and legacy, her family gathered in a private ceremony to share memories and honor the remarkable woman she was. Her journey on this earth may have ended, but her spirit endures in the lives of those she loved and the community she served with such dedication. Marlene June Rogers will be deeply missed, but her legacy will continue to inspire for generations to come.

Marlene was laid to rest next to her husband, Dick at Hope Cemetery in Salem.
