Martha H. Capel

SALEM - Martha H Capel, 100, died Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at Auburn Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Martha was born on May 24, 1921 in Salem, Ohio, the daughter of  the late Thomas S and Nellie (Stiver) Layden.

Martha was a 1939 graduate of Salem High School. Martha worked at Century House of Salem as a Night Matron for 20 years.  She was a lifelong member of St. Paul Catholic Church of Salem.

Survivors include;  4 grandchildren, 1 step grandson, 8 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren also survived by a daughter in law, Janelle Capel of Salem

Besides her parents Martha was preceded in death by a son Richard G. Capel II who died August  of 2013; brother, Robert Layden;  sisters, Mary Louise Schuller and Jeanne Cantwell.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 24, at Stark Memorial Funeral Home with Father Robert Edwards officiating. Calling hours will be held 1 hour prior to the service.  Burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery in Salem, OH.
