SALEM - Michelle Kaye Esterle, 69, of Salem, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 2, 2025, after a short battle with cancer. She was born on November 6, 1955, in Fort Knox, KY, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Betty (Slaby) Penrose.
Michelle was united in marriage to Robert Esterle for nearly 43 years. Together they built a loving home and family, of which Michelle was endlessly proud. She was a devoted and loving mother to three children, Tim (Amanda), Kyle, and Jennifer (Kevin) Phillips and proud grandmother to Ryan, Cora, Adam, and Owen. Michelle found great joy and purpose in her role as a mother and grandmother, cherishing every moment spent with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Betty Penrose and brother, Tim Penrose.
Michelle's dedication extended beyond her family. For over 20 years, she served as an aide within the West Branch School District, where she made a lasting impact on generations of children. Michelle was particularly proud to see her own children and grandchildren growing up in the same halls where she worked and cherished the opportunity to serve alongside the community she loved. She retired in 2024, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and service to others.
In her free time, Michelle found great joy in her hobbies. She was an avid quilter, creating beautiful, meaningful quilts for her family and friends that will be cherished for years to come. Each quilt reflected her love, attention to detail, and care. Michelle also enjoyed bowling and fondly played on a team with her son Kyle, sharing moments of fun and camaraderie that will forever be remembered.
A faithful member of Concord Church, where she treasured the friendships and fellowship she found there.
Friends and family will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Concord Church located at 10013 Salem Warren Rd, Salem, OH. Immediately following, a memorial service honoring Michelle's life will commence at 6:30 p.m. at the church.
