SALEM – Nick “The Greek” Thomas Senanefes, age 67 died Sunday, June 14, 2020 at Mercy Health - St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital where he was an organ donor. He was born September 17, 1952 in Salem, son of the late Thomas and Sophie (Dakis) Senanefes.
Survivors include a daughter, Aubrey (Eric Schreibeis) Freeze of Sharon, PA and two grandchildren, Christion and Johnathan.
Nick picked up the guitar at age 12 and has been a musician ever since. He was incredibly talented and could play almost any instrument he put his hands on. He was a member of several bands throughout his life including "The Sundance Kids" and "The Freed City Rockers". He often played at Guilford Lake, The Eagles Club and the Canfield Fair. Nick was well known around Salem and several other surrounding areas for doing electrical work until he retired in 2015. He became a self-employed electrician after being taught the trade by his Uncle Charley with whom he was always very close. Nick was the type of person who would give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it, but always made sure to express his very deep love for his family and friends. He will forever be remembered for his upbeat personality, always smiling and acting goofy, but most of all his passion and love for music.
Calling hours will be held from 12 Noon – 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 5, 2020 at Stark Memorial. For the safety of the Senanefes family and visitors, please adhere to social distancing and bring your own mask.
He believed there is a need for the healing power of music.
