Nickolas Thompson Obituary

SALEM -

Our beloved, Nickolas Joseph Thompson tragically left us on January 24, 2025, to be with the Lord. He was born, June 2, 1979, son of Jack and Brenda (Painter) Thompson.

Besides his parents, he leaves behind his wife, Marci (Beatty) Thompson and their children, Traevon, McKenna, and Xander; brother, Jason Thompson; mother-in-law, Cathy Seigler; brother-in-law, Aaron Brandonisio; nieces, Bella, Eliza, Charlotte, and Elise; nephew, Robbie and numerous other family members and friends.

Nick was a 1997 graduate of United High School. He worked at Humtown Pattern as head of the dip room. He may not have always wanted to be at work and working, but he always put in 100% effort and took pride in the work that he did. Nick went to any length to make people laugh and smile, especially his wife and kids. He was the best dad, always trying to make sure he made the best memories with Marci and the kids. Nick enjoyed making his own family traditions and taking his family to Kraynaks and Golden Corral every Christmas. He loved to take Traevon to watch new movies when they came out, playing Magic The Gathering with him and his buddies. Nick loved playing video games with McKenna and had made a tradition of visiting the Columbiana County Fair annually. He loved wrestling around with Xander, playing under the covers, and playing action figures together. He would go to any length to make sure they were happy. Nick started making a habit of taking the kids to any arcade and then over to Totally 80s Ice Ice Cream Shoppe.

Nick had a passion for sports that was immeasurable with a special love of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins, the North Carolina Tar Heels. He was also an avid fan of all things LeBron James. His favorite card game was Magic The Gathering, which he played with his buddy Jim, Traevon and his friend Kaiden. If those people were not available, you would find him at Nerdy Necessities or just sorting and building decks. He was into various role-playing games and disc golf occasionally with some friends from work. There isn’t a game Nick wouldn’t play, especially if it was a video game. Zelda was his absolute favorite, but he enjoyed playing video games on any type of gaming system with anyone that would come to the house, as he had an enormous love for anything retro, gaming related or anything from the early 80s that could take him back to when he was a child.

Nick was an incredibly strong man that overcame alcoholism. His faith and strong will granted him an inner peace to seek out and embrace sobriety. He was a selfless giver that was the host with the most. He was always trying to take care of everybody that came over to visit, making sure that they had everything they needed to be comfortable. He thought about other people before himself and constantly put others first.

Nick was proceeded in death by his son, Ashton; brother, Tom, and his grandparents.

Friends and family will be received from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at Stark Memorial followed by the funeral service at 3:00 p.m.
