Austintown - Patricia Ann Boyer, known affectionately as Patty to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, August 26, 2024, at Hospice House with her family at her bedside. Patty was born on June 22, 1941, in Youngstown, the daughter the late Chester and Florence (Flick) Shood. Patty's life was a testament to her kindness, friendliness, and thoughtfulness.
Patty was a proud graduate of Chaney High School, class of 1959, and she carried the lessons and friendships from those years throughout her life. She found her calling in the health care industry, where she worked as a dedicated medical assistant for many years. Patty's caring nature made her a beloved figure among her colleagues and patients alike.
In 1961, Patricia married the love of her life, Robert E. Boyer Jr., and they embarked on a journey of love and partnership that lasted until his passing on November 9, 2019. Together, they raised two wonderful children, Linda Wray, of Canfield, and Robert A. Boyer, and his wife Evelyn, of Flower Mound, Texas. Her family was the center of her universe, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Patty's brother, Russell Shood, and his wife Guyanne, of San Diego, and her sister, Wendy Blevins, and her husband Larry of North Lima, will fondly remember her warmth and ever-present smile. She also leaves behind several in-laws, and numerous nieces and nephews, who will miss her gentle guidance and endless support.
A woman of faith, Patricia was a longtime member of Paradise Community Church. Her musical talents graced the congregation as she served as the church pianist. Alongside her husband, she was an active member of the church council, contributing to the spiritual life and community well-being.
Patty's interests were as varied as they were passionate. She was an avid traveler, always ready to embark on a new adventure and explore different cultures. A lover of literature, Patty could often be found with a book in hand, lost in the pages of a gripping story. Her enthusiasm for walking and bowling kept her active, while her love for the outdoors was evident to all who knew her, in the way she cared for, and the time she took with her flowers and the love she had for garden.
Those who were fortunate enough to know Patricia will remember her as a beacon of kindness and generosity. Her thoughtful nature made her a cherished companion and a true friend. Patty's legacy of love and dedication will continue to inspire all who were touched by her presence.
As we say goodbye to Patricia Ann Boyer, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and joy. Her memory will be carried in the hearts of her family and friends forever. Pat's journey on this earth may have concluded, but the impact of her life's work and the love she shared will endure for generations to come.
Patty was preceded in death by her beloved parents, her devoted husband Bob, and several in-laws.
